Necromunda 2017 looks to be a great year for GW

After 20 years GW decided to go full Necromunda..
Shadow War Armageddon was great game despite being splash sale product to fund terrain tooling :)
But Whole new Necromunda Edition with new miniatures ? Hell yess..

While models themselves seam to be painted and photographed to a lover standard than GW used to do.. I love them

Starter set will have Escher and Goliath gangs.. Escher are my first gang and all time favorite.. I hated Goliath - mostly because of silly over muscling and bad models in original starter set bot later learned to appreciate their campiness..  Those Eschers fits nice style vise with Jess Goodwin masterpieces but Goliath are much more brutish and serious than Glam bodybuilders wasteland nomads of the 80 ties - of the past. I like them very much and they will fund myriad of uses in Inquisimunda.

Game itself will be based on 8 edition but with full stat line.
That means simplified close combat. Unnecessary IMHO.
One thing they mention that is interesting is Model based activation.
IGOUGO is worst element of Necromunda - unattractive in skirmish gaming. Vague info about activation roll and Leader making activating easier (either influencing the roll or allowing multiple activation Frostgrave style) is not enough to decide if it will make game better or worse.. But activation is one thing I am experimenting with houserules (lately with card activation).

Time will show.

Anyway.. If the game itself will be unfunny.. We will play my beloved Necromunda. Either Original first or Community. But the miniatures will make wonders for Necromunda renaissance!

Dark Templars from Primaris marines

Since my last post a big bomb struck WH 40k community. 8 edition. While the game itself is of no interest to me.. New starter set Dark Imperium was...
 Ive bought it on the day of premiere due to great models inside.. And started to play with Primaris marines and Poxwalkers :P What a beauties they are :O
Here are my 3 truescale / artscale Black Templars made from Primaris.

I struggled how to make them more Templar at first, apart from the paintjob. After carefully looking at BT miniatures and art I went with chains, emblems at the sides of the chests and to spice some extra grimdark candles and torch in iron ring on the sergeant

Those guys will be heavy contingent for Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor yet to be named. I am doing some kind of military arm to each of my planned Inqisitorial retinue and Templars somehow fit perfect with witch hunting and heresy purging :>

I will add some more photos when I will manage to photograph them better. Somehow those guys just dont like to be photographed :)
Interesting observation.. Sergeant photographed much better before painting.

And this guy just needs chains to be called ready for painting

LPL 2017 final round

This post concludes my LPL series (I will return to some of my entries in more detail but as own projects)

And final standing. I placed on very good 14th place after 10 rounds with 5-5 win to loose ratio. I could be a little better if I could make better photos. Well, maybe next year. First 10 is beyond my skills, masters of this League are The masters indeed.

Despite risk of humiliating defeat LPL is great way to finish those blocked projects that were on my desk for years at time.. I highly recommend Lead Adventures Forum and next years  LPL itself!

Lead Painters League entries 5, 8 and 9

Almost finishing this cycle, Here are my Sci-fi entries int the latter part of LPL (except of last 10th week photo - as that round is still active)

First  my Sump pirates. I will be posting more of them in following weeks. With mutant steam cutter. These guys are straight from Patalonian Sulphur wastes stalking black steamships of Fellburgh

Next mu Underhive caravan, This entrance was made from old miniatures because I didnt manage to finish new models for this entry (still only 3 finished porters in the caravan :(

In 9th round I finished my first Inquisimunda team. Unfortunately all stock models except the Dragoon Guardsman. I have dozens of =I=28 miniatures built but those are very first finished and painted except very old 3 Henchmen done in 2008 and Drill Abbot. I hope to do more of those and already started work on next team, again mostly of stock miniatures (but I love them too much in stock to convert)

Last round will feature my Slaaneshian beastmen slavers from the Purple Spire, so stay in touch :)

Lead Painters League entries 4, 6 and 7

Another weeks taken by readying entries for Lead Painters League.

AEwulf on the road to plunder (well more his newly finished friends.) scored me a win

So did opposing frame There always rock on the road (To AEwulfs plunder :)

But poor guys stopping on Tokaido were rushed (not best photo unfortunately - and originally planed scene was impossible to shot :( and lost. Its not bad scene and I like miniatures a lot but photo is not very sharp

I skipped round 5 but it will thematically better fit with next batch of sci fi entries

Another 40k Starter set and another cultists on the horizon

This time its called Dark Imperium and sets Nurgle plague marines against new and super smurfy Space Marines.
Again they look monopose and snap fit, this time Nurgle flavored, but apart from guts on the loose one they will be spot on for any chaos god after appropriate paintjob. All are mutants though so their cultist use is reserved for Openly heretical or Undercity cults. Most of them will work in fantasy too.
My favorite is coated one with tentacle. I just need to find him suitable head.

 DV cultist looked much more sinister (those guys are very happy about being cultist) and could be used for much more. The were very easily de-cultised and work as Cawdor or plain normal Imperial civilians. So I doubt those new guys will see so many uses as their versatility is lower. I painted only 10 as cultist proper, but used more than that as basis for different conversion work like those porters.

In the other news.. Truescale Marines fodder is upon us in the same starter, they will help my conversion work very much.

And last but not least Plaguemarines themselves.. I have to admit they (in similar way to DV Chaos marines) are cherry on the cake - best models in the set - I might break and have do some Nurgle after all.. :(

Lead Painters League entries 1-3

I had a little downtime with painting, among many reasons why is I signed for participation in Lead Adventures Forum painting league.

I was closely following this epic 10 week painting challenge (with elements of competition) and decided that it will help me work under pressure of time and finish some projects I wouldn't for years.
I don't aim for any high place - as participants are top class painters and photographers - my aim it to be in top half of the list of 38 participants. How will it ends remains to be seen but so far so good :)
I won two duels with randomly generated in Swiss format pair of participants and I lost one.

Rules are to present a group of 5 newly painted miniatures in some appropriate environment/scene - and then participants are paired in duels and LA forum members had to vote for one of each pair of participants. Its really most interesting challenge/contest I ever saw with some absolutely epic works of miniature painting art and presenting the unique scenes. While painting is most important both storytelling and photography skills matters in such contest.

As I know my painting limits I went for interesting scenes in most of my entries.
Here are my entries for first three rounds and I will successfully post my entries in incoming weeks. Wish me luck (luck is to not be randomly paired with one of the insanely skilled leaders of the competition :P
