 Ive finished my first footsore models. I love them although lack of spears forcing me to make them wasn't fun, models are great and helmets beautiful. Shields are dedicated Little Big Men/ Now Victrix

Sassanians by Lurkio

Ive returned to my Lurkio Sassanians. My army lacked last two elements to by playable DBA army. Unfortunately they were both Horde elements, I don't believe such unit should be compulsory choice in Sassanian army at all so I did not have motivation, especially with much improved DBA3.0 Sassanian army list on the horizon.. Firsly we hear about massed unwilling conscripted peasant only from Sassanian enemies (with interest in depreciating Sassanian military) and only in last resort kind of fights, secondly we have archaeological evidence of organized Sassanian infantry corps with distinct and regular uniforms (found for ex in Dura Europos).
S oi was reluctant to make those buggers Hordes where they shouldnt be in the first place and that after change to 3.0 will newer see play anymore..
So i decided for a clever split. I cut bases and positioned them to be both two 4Sp elements or one 7(well 8 actually)Hd until new list will be released. So my army is playable as new list but has only 11 elements with single horde in DBA 2.2  (will work with some temporary 30mm bases for my spears) games.. So i have to Finnish my last elements and when i do i will add foliage and the details to the bases to make them coherent.

II/32 Later Carthaginians

This is my first painted army for DBA II/32 Later Carthaginians. They were finished earlier this year (and i have few alternative elements that are still in their silvery nakedness, and it lacks a camp..) to playable standard.

Dziś Mniej historii a więcej obrazków. Moja pierwsza armia do DBA (zostało jej kilka niepomalowanych elementów alternatywnych, ale tak ogólnie to jest gotowa do gry - tylko obozu brakuje).

Elementy Kartagińskie, kawaleria z Hannibalem oraz Piechota afrykańska i święty zastęp i oczywiście morderczy choć dość ahistoryczny Olifant (Słonie afrykańskie leśne które występowały w armii kartagińskiej były za małe pod takie wierze, choć ulubiony słoń Hannibala nazywał się Syryjczyk i prawdopodobnie był Syryjskim leśnym, który już mógłby takie coś nosić.. ale szybko zdechł ;(  Niestety jego uszy wskazują na afryke jako miejsce urodzenia.

  

Carthaginian elements African infantry with sacred band and Cavalry with Hannibal himself  and Elephant. Elephants in Carthaginian army were African forest elephants (now extinct) much smaller from Indian elephants of Successsor states and do not carried towers, but favorite elephant of Hannibal himself was called Syrian - some scientist claim that he could be of now extinct Syrian breed - that shared morphology with Indian elephants - so lets cal this one Syrian :> Unfortunately Syrian died soon after crossing the Alps ;( Unfortunately his ears clearly points to africa as place of origin



 Jazda numidyjska oraz numidyjscy lekkozbrojni. Sprzymierzona elitarna kawaleria Hannibala która pozwalała mu na dokonywanie manewrów jak pod Kannami. W momencie kiedy utracił na rzecz Rzymian mozliwosć jej zaciagu, przegrał bitwę pod Zammą oraz całą wojnę.

Numidian cavalry and moorish Psiloi. Elite Numidian cavalry was spear of Hannibal's forces. As long as he has Numidians on his side he was winning brilliant victories, when he lost it he lost battle of Zama and whole war..

Piechota Galijska, która tworzyła największy kontyngent w armii Hannibala w Italii.
Gallic Infantry. Its composed most of his army in Italy. Was later rearmed as his africans veterans with captured Roman equipment.


 And last element is of Iberic infantry, Hannibal fought successful wars in Iberian peninsula and conquered most of Iberic and celtiberic tribes from the coastal regions and sometimes much further into Iberia proper before invasion of Italy.

Piechota iberyjska. Hannibal toczył liczne kampanie w na półwyspie iberyjskim przed wyruszeniem do Italii. Podporządkował wiele ludów Iberyjskich i Celtibrów. 

And full army in its 12 element glory.

All models are Corvus Belli. Very nice if somewhat smallish folk. DBA army set, They are nice and paint very nicely.

What bugs me is i cant find similar in size and quality Republican Polybian Romans to trash them with it... 

I would be glad for any suggestions.

Best looking i saw are Xystons but they dwarf my Carthaginians in unpeasing way. 

Modele to zestaw Armia DBA z Corvus belli. Ekstra modele i świetnie się malują, tylko ciut mali.

Planuje przeciwstawić im Rzymian, ale nie widziałem podobnej jakości w podobnej skali. Xystona są śliczni ale przy nich 

moi  Kartagińczycy to punickie karzełki..

Sarisoforoi - Syntagma Pezetairów

Po wielu latach pracy (składającej się głównie z przerw;) ukończyłem wreszcie Syntagmę macedońską.
Syntagma to najmniejszy odział piechoty noszących sarissy falangitów w armii Aleksandra Wielkiego i jego następców.
Składał się z 256 ludzi ustawionych w szesnaście szeregów po szesnastu ludzi każdy. Dowódca zajmował pierwszą pozycję w szeregu z lewej strony oddziału. W kolejnych rzędach (lochos) stali ich dowódcy, za nimi doświadczenie falangici, a w ostatnim rzędzie kolejni weterani mający zapewnić spójność udziału w bitwie.

Figurki to Baccus 6 mm. Wybrałem opcję bez odlanych sariss co kosztowało mnie mase pracy i sprawia, że są stosunkowo delikatni i podatni na uszkodzenia...

After many years of work (literally years i am working on this project lets say irregularly :)
Ive finished what would be full Syntagma : basic unit of Macedonian army in 1:1 ratio.
Syntagma was unit of 256 men placed in 16 rows of 16 men each. 
Miniatures are Baccus 6mm. They have few issues but are quite nice and paint well. Only thing i don't like in them is my choice of hand free option (without cast sarissas). Making sarissas is probably love or hate relation but i am definitely in the hate camp. And that makes them bit delicate and susceptible to damage (obviously sarissa loss).

But what a sight !!!!!!!! Thats why i started to paint 6 mm ancients. For a look of phalanx !

Tarcze są różne bo wiem to cztery rzędy Pk do systemów z rodziny DBX. Oddział jest częścią mojej boleśnie powoli powstającej Armii Seleukidów do DBMMa.

 

This is part of my Seleukids army for DBMM. We have here 4 "units" of 4 bases deep so shields are in 4 (well 3 to be honest) configurations.
